What is FloorScore Certification?

FloorScore®️ is the most trusted certification for indoor air quality (IAQ) in hard surface flooring, including vinyl. It was developed by SCS Global Services, an independent third-party certifier, in collaboration with the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI)—a leading voice in the flooring industry.

This certification evaluates products for emissions of harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and ensures they meet some of the strictest health and safety standards in the world.

How Certification Works

Each vinyl flooring product undergoes a detailed and rigorous process:

• VOC Testing: Independent laboratories test CALI vinyl for VOC emissions that may affect indoor air quality.

• Meets California Section 01350: This standard is among the toughest in the U.S. for VOC limits.

• Manufacturing Audits: SCS inspects the manufacturing process and ingredients used in the flooring.

• Ongoing Compliance: Products are continuously re-tested to maintain certification.

What's Tested?

To earn the FloorScore seal, CALI vinyl flooring must emit ultra-low levels of:

• Formaldehyde – ≤ 9 µg/m³

• Acetaldehyde – ≤ 70 µg/m³

• Other VOCs with established Chronic Reference Exposure Levels (CRELs) – ≤ ½ the CREL value

These limits are based on California's strict OEHHA guidelines.
